欧博体育:Bursa Malaysia steadies ahead of OPR decision
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended in the positive territory on Wednesday as investors look ahead to Bank Negara's interest rate decision on Nov 3.
A poll by Reuters found that 25 out of 27 economists surveyed predicted Bank Negara would hike its overnight policy rate (OPR) by 25 basis points (bps) to 2.75% from 2.5% at its Nov 3 meeting.
At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI advanced 5.68 points, or 0.39% to 1,451.61, coming off its intraday high of 1,451.92.
The market was optimistic with 487 gainers compared with 340 decliners. Trading volume was 2.5 billion shares valued at RM1.8bil.
According to data on Bursa Malaysia, foreign investors and local retailers disposed of RM68mil and RM4mil of local equities respectively on Tuesday.
Local institutions acquired RM71mil worth of equities yesterday.,

On Bursa Malaysia, Nestle rose 50 sen to RM133, PETRONAS Dagangan added 50 sen to RM22.20, Hengyuan closed up 49 sen to RM4.78 and Petron Malaysia gained 29 sen to RM4.87.
7-Eleven Malaysia tumbled 55 sen to RM1.81, Dufu fell 43 sen to RM1.98, BLD Plantation lost 41 sen to RM8.50 and Imaspro eased 36 sen to RM5.32.
Meanwhile, US crude oil was up US$1.10 at US$89.47 a barrel while Brent crude oil rose 95 cents to US$95.60 per barrel.
Around the region, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.79%.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed down 0.056% to 27,663.39 while South Korea’s Kospi index added 0.07% to 2,336.87.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed up 2.41% to 15,827.17.
China's blue-chip CSI 300 Index ended up 1.2% to 3,677.81, while the Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.15% to 3,003.37.
